College & Career Fair is now live!
Junior League of Montgomery
36th Annual Virtual College and Career Fair
Master the College Search
Join us to learn how to do College Planning using the Alabama Career Planning System, powered by Kuder® (ACPS). You can explore colleges, choose a major, & be matched with colleges using our College Match tool. Learn how search for scholarships & navigate the FAFSA process.
The refreshed ACPS is live at https://al.kuder.com! With Alabama-specific education resources, new and expanded tools, and improved career assessments, it’s never been easier for Alabamians to dream big and plan accordingly!
The state of Alabama provides a wealth of free information about careers, financial aid, and college admission. During this presentation, we will explore the numerous career resources on the Alabama Virtual Library’s website (avl.lib.al.us) and we will briefly review some tools for college preparation on the Alabama Commission on Higher Education’s website (ache.edu). At the close of this session, students, parents, and educators will have a better grasp of the mission of these state organizations and their respective college and career resources.
You’re getting close to high school graduation and keep getting the same questions:
What will your major be?
What do you plan to do when you grow up?
Those are hard to answer, especially if you don’t know which career paths will best fit your personal strengths/weaknesses. Hopefully, this presentation will help you find answers and put you on the track finding your direction.
Haley and Ebony will discuss the resources offered by the Montgomery Career Center to high school graduates. Haley and Ebony will also provide details on the Montgomery Career Center's Work Base Learn Program and Educational Training Program.
What You Need to Know About Financial Aid
Many of you have already completed the first two steps in the college application process. Those steps are 1. Taking the Standardized tests (SAT/ACT) and 2. Applying to AT LEAST one college. So if you’ve completed these two steps, then you’re on target! Also… If you applied early enough AND were a competitive applicant, some of you might have even received acceptance letters already! NOW being that it’s THAT time of the year, I’m pretty sure many of you are asking yourselves “How can I afford my college education?” or “Where is the money going to come from?” If you’re thinking like this, I just want you to assure you that you are not alone. I, too, asked myself those very questions prior to going off to college. Today we will touch on the “What You Need to Know About Financial Aid”
Topics of Discussion will include:
What is financial aid?
Cost of attendance (COA)
Expected family contribution (EFC)
Categories, types, and sources of financial aid
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
These sessions will be recorded and posted to view until November 2020. To view these sessions, you must log in to the event site. You can do so at the top right corner of this page.
